Fundraising, Donations and Bequests

The Oakleigh Centre is a not for profit organisation. It receives funding from Federal and State Government Departments but relies on fundraising and donations to fill the gaps and ensure that our services are of the highest possible standard.

The Oakleigh Centre holds a number of fundraising events throughout the year. The two major annual fundraising events are our Charity Golf Day and Christmas Tree Festival.

Charity Golf Day

On Sunday 23rd March 2014 the Oakleigh Centre held its 19th Annual Charity Golf Day at The Metropolitan Golf Club. The Oakleigh Centre extends its sincere thanks to all the staff at The Metropolitan Golf Club for their continued support in making this event a success. Both Staff and Volunteers on the day outdid themselves, starting the day as early as 6am helping with registrations, and competition or refreshments, the day could not operate without everyone’s help. Although the day was thoroughly enjoyed by all 256 attending, some of our players were more successful than others. Congratulations to all of our winners:

A big thank you to all of our sponsorship and donors, this day would not be the success it is with your support.

Christmas Tree Festival

Since the early 1960’s the Oakleigh Centre has been selling Christmas trees to raise funds for the people we support. A parent, Frank Burton, who sold trees from his backyard, initiated the event.

Fresh quality trees sourced from the Dandenong Christmas tree farm, are available throughout December, starting from $45 for 4foot. We also have a Christmas tree shop that provides small decorations for your tree, and high quality tree stands that will last for years to come.

In 2014, the Christmas trees will be available from Saturday 29th November – Wednesday 24th December. Our Christmas Tree Shop is open 1pm-6pm Monday-Friday and 8am-6pm Saturday and Sunday at the top car park on 773 Warrigal Road.

The Festival is staffed totally by volunteers and all profits go to the Centre’s programs. Customers and volunteers are always in demand. Enquiries welcome on 9569 0603.

Have fun and enjoy the true spirit of Christmas by giving to others!

Trees can be pre-ordered through reception.
